Sport and Trad climbing

Limited to 8 committed climbers including the ACC Leader (please do not sign up unless you are 100% committed)

We’ll meet in the Skaha Bluffs Parking Lot at 10am on June 2 and climb at selected crags over 4 days. This tour is oriented to intermediate 5.9 to 5.12 climbers interested in active and spicy sport and trad climbing.

We’ll base camp as a team 3 nights at the quiet lakeside Banbury Green across Skaha Lake (looking back to the Bluffs). Bring a SUP or canoe for a shoreline paddle in the evening or plan an end of the day swim to wash off the sweat and dirt from an exhilarating day of climbing.

We’ll close the trip in around 2pm on June 5.

The team will work together to support safety, skilful climbing and adventure led by a 22 year veteran climber very familiar with Skaha Bluffs and the local community.

Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park is one of the best places to climb in Canada. Sixty-six crags and over 1000 climbs can be found in three main canyons. Most climbs (around 65%) are sport routes but there are many opportunities for traditional climbing too.

The sheer variety and choice of routes in combination with the southern Okanagan’s warm climate make Skaha Bluffs a world-class climbing destination.

Skaha Bluffs is comprised of 761 acres of open Ponderosa Pine forests, grasslands, riparian forest, rugged terrain and towering cliffs. The landscape consists of a variety of distinctive terrain features, which function together to provide habitat for many provincially or federally listed species at risk including California Bighorn Sheep, Western Screech Owl, White-throated Swift, Canyon Wren, Lewis’ Woodpecker, five snake and four bat species as well as many other wildlife species.
