Satinflower Showtime in the Sooke Hills!

Saturday, Mar 21 – 9:30am – 4:30pm

It’s that time of the year again – the annual early springtime show of wildflowers in the Sooke Hills! Join us for a trip over the Amigos via Alan and Tony, up to John Peak / Stick Bump, along the Heavenly Trail, and back home again via all the Amigos we didn’t visit on the way out. Expect all the usual early suspects: satinflowers, saxifrages, monkeyflowers, shooting stars, buttercups, salmonberry, woodland star, and more.

Our hike will be approximately 10 km and ~550 m elevation, mostly on marked trails with some scrambly bits, slippery sections, and possibly a creek crossing. We will probably do some bushwhacking – after all, it is a classic hike in the Sooke Hills! We will stop for elevenses, lunch, and good flowers — trees and boulders may be climbed.

Meet at 9:30am at the Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park South Trailhead Parking Lot – https://maps.app.goo.gl/n4ed6oy4qQD7U4bt5

Participants will need the 10 essentials including sturdy boots, layers for cooler and possibly wet weather; hiking poles are recommended and please bring your own lunch.
