Response to Provincial Health measures of Nov 19

As you are likely aware, new province-wide measures were announced yesterday, 19 November, which aim to curb the surge in Covid 19 cases, including on Vancouver Island. The new order is explicit in not allowing events or social gatherings of any size, other than an individual’s immediate household/core bubble, in both indoor and outdoor settings. In the light of this, the ACC-VI executive has decided to cancel all volunteer-led scheduled club activities until 7 December, at which time we will review the updated guidelines. Workshops and courses which are run by outside organizations may continue if providers are able to operate with approved procedures - registrants will be informed directly of any changes. Hišimy̓awiƛ, our hut on 5040 Peak, will be closed for this period with existing reservations cancelled.

It goes without saying that this is an unwelcome turn of events, and I know we will miss the various outings and seasonal events. Our thanks to the many leaders and organisers who have been helping us to get out there over the last few months. But given the current state of the pandemic, it is clear we must all do our part to try and hasten the return to better times - they will come. And meanwhile, we will continue to keep the community connected through our various communication channels and online events. More on that coming up very soon.
