Reminder to submit your articles for the 2024 Island Bushwhacker Annual

Dear members,

This is a friendly reminder to please write and submit your trip reports for publication in the 2024 Island Bushwhacker Annual for self-propelled trips you have done in alpine settings (which can be on the coastline or in a valley, as much as on a high alpine ridge) before 15 February 2025. You can submit them to me at bushwhacker@accvi.ca.

These trip reports can be based on one or more of your 2024 adventures on Vancouver Island, the Mainland, or far and Distant places. You are also welcome to write an article that is of broader interest for our Notes from the Section (e.g. about ACCVI history, mentoring the next generation of mountaineers, etc).

Here is a link to instructions for preparing your articles: Submissions – Alpine Club of Canada Vancouver Island Section. And here is a link to previous issues of the Island Bushwhacker Annual: Island Bushwhacker – Alpine Club of Canada Vancouver Island Section. As you will note from browsing these archives, past articles have generally ranged from 500-5000 words with 1-15 photos. Lots of variation!

This year, the Alpine Club of Canada is also encouraging members to include a land acknowledgement in your trip reports if you are comfortable with doing so. You can read an article about including land acknowledgements on page 13 of the 2024 Autumn issue of the Island Bushwhacker Newsletter https://accvi.ca/wp-content/uploads/Autumn2024.pdf.

Do let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions!
And I wish you all a very Happy New Year full alpine adventures you can write about for the 2025 Island Bushwhacker Annual!

Cheers,
Janelle
