Oshinow Lake Trail to Harmston etc

Continuing the discussion from Argus Mountain, Mount Harmston, and the Red Pillar:

History:this trail was never designed as a Parks trail; it was a developed by an renegade trail maker & discovered by Parks more than15 yrs ago.At that time Parks maintainenance of access & signage to the campground was minimal & then abandoned for lack of funding. So all work since in this area has been done by local volunteers. Park boundary signs are routinely vandalized & the campground badly used. Its a shame.

Hi Barb,
I know - it’s unfortunate that there are so many unofficial trails in Strathcona (that were developed for obvious reasons but never given trail status). What campground are you referring to - do you mean the area at the Oshinow Lake beach? I can understand that this area is vandalized because it’s directly accessed off Mosaic land, which is used by all sorts of people, and so far everyone I’ve talked to hasn’t realized that Strathcona extended down so far. I mean, there is a sign up at the top of the old Forbidden Ski hill that says park boundary - if it wasn’t here I’m sure many people who off-road wouldn’t realize. If only parks had more money!!!
