Description: Fall is a lovely time to wander in the hills and stay in shape for the summer! As Saturday looks to be a nice weather day (thus far) it would be good to include a few view spots. So we would like to wander via the old southern route (Amusement Park trail to Fish Ponds Trail) to Sugarloaf and may take a brief view stop at Sugar Lump along the way. From Sugarloaf we can travel via the Jurrasic Trail over towards Mike Hill. We can go via the Eagle Bluffs scenic route or the more direct route straight to Mike Hill. From there we can either visit The Gem or head over to Crowsnest, if the group is ambitious. Depending on who comes along and what trails folks have or have not been on, we can make some choices amongst the group as to exact route details on the way back. Depending on route selection our outing could be 14 – 18 km with probably 500 to 700 m elevation gain.
Required Gear: Sturdy hiking boots, a pole(s), warm layers, touque, gloves and raingear (just in case), snacks and lunch along with a hot beveridge (if desired), and the ten essentials
Hazards: We may do some short sections of bushwacking, so expect variable terrain and tripping hazards with loose branches, pinecones, leaves, slippery moss, roots and rock.
