Join us for a classic long day hike in the Beaufort Range to enjoy fall colours and fantastic views.

We will meet at Cook Creek Forest Service Road off the Island Highway (approx. 2 hrs drive from Victoria) early morning. Our trip takes us up a rough, steep trail to Mt. Joan (1557 m) in the southern most part of the range. From there we hike north up and down bumps along a ridge to Squarehead (1400 m) and then up towards Mt. Curran (1478 m). A route and trail leads back down to where we started, to complete the loop. We will be driving back down island same day.

Total elevation gain is approximately 1550 m over 19 km, with a hiking time of 8 – 10 hours. Our hiking time could be on the short side if we are able to drive to the trailhead with participants who have high clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicles. Further details of meeting times/places will be sent out to participants by email once we have our list of hikers set.

Please bring sufficient water, lunch and snacks, rain gear, warm layers and the 10 essentials. Please wear sturdy hiking boots and hiking poles (or pole) are also recommended. No dogs please.

Max participants: 8
