Objective Mckenzie Range Climbing

Costs Split gas costs if car pooling.

Meeting location Canoe Creek hydro gate (HWY 4), or optional car pool from Victoria

Description Two days, one night climbing in the Mckenzie Range. We’ll meet Saturday morning and hike up to camp on the ridge via Canoe Creek hydro project, have lunch, and climb something easier (Mckenzie Summit?) with what time we have left in the afternoon. On Sunday, we’ll get an early start and climb one of the slightly more involved routes (route decision based on collective experience and comfort level) before hiking out in the afternoon and heading home. Some of the potential routes: · Mckenzie Summit – PD 4th class, 120m · Redwall South Ridge – AD- low 5th, 140m · Redwall Warm Up Crag – 5.7 to 5.8 · Shadowblade – AD- 5.6, 75m · Flat Top – AD- low 5th, 90m · Witch Hat – PD 4th class, 30m · Centaur NE Ridge – AD- 5.6, 60m Trip is weather and wildfire dependent.

Skill Level C5 Trad climbing in the ~5.6 range, lead belaying, rappelling, anchor building, etc. Comfort with exposed 4th class scrambling General off trail mountain travel & navigation Fitness to hike 1000m up to camp and another 300 to summit in a day

Equipment Requirements Harness, belay device, personal climbing gear, overnight camping equipment. I will provide ropes and rack.
