(K)nights in White Satin

Saturday April 5, 2025 saw a group of five hardy ACC “(K)nights” stride out into the eastern Sooke Hills in search of the elusive white satinflower. I’m pleased to say not only did we have a fine day out in the hills, but both white and variegated satinflowers were seen, admired, and photographed.

We had a good round of the eastern stretches of the Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park, putting a bit over 10k and ~850m of elevation gain under our boots. We spent most of the time on trails (Amigos and Bumps), but it wouldn’t be an ACC-VI trip if some bush wasn’t whacked at least once or twice!

Our (K)nights were successful on the White Satinflower Quest.

A few more photos from the day:

Satinflowers galore - including a batch of the rare white variety!

But the rarities didn’t stop with the white petals - we also had a several lovely groupings of the variegated variety in another area.

Of course it wasn’t just about the satinflowers - other views were enjoyed, more plants photographed, and a few favourite trees climbed.

All in all a grand day with an excellent group of (K)nights. Here’s to many more days in the hills.

Happy Trails everyone
