Highlands 3-Peaks Challenge: Mt Finlayson, Holmes Peak, Jocelyn Hill (Part 1)

Potentially to be followed by the other 4 peaks of the ‘7 Peaks hike’ at a later date (part 2).

Pace: moderate to fast-paced
Car shuttle: We will leave 2 cars in the Mt Work/Ross-Durrance road parking lot, to shuttle us back to Goldstream Park at the end of the hike. Passengers to each provide $2 to the shuttle drivers.
Shuttle, start time: Meet at Goldstream Park, on the bridge at 8:30am. Volunteer shuttle drivers will be required to drive to the end-point for the shuttle: Volunteer drivers will meet at Goldstream Park at 7:30.

Description: We will start at Goldstream park, hike over Mt Finlayson (416m), connect via paved and gravel roads (about 2 km) to the Ridgetop Trail in Gowland-Tod Park, hit Holmes Peak (329m) on our way over to Jocelyn Hill (419m) and take the Cascades Falls Trail for a quick jaunt to McKenzie Bight (7m). From there we scoot up the McKenzie Bight trail to the finale at Ross-Durrance Rd parking lot in Mt Work Park (145m). The total distance is around 17.5-18 km with about 960m elevation gain split between the three peaks and up to Mt. Work trailhead off Ross-Durrance Rd. Expect to be on the trail for about 6-7 hours moving at a moderate-fast pace with a few breaks to enjoy the views from summits and stop for lunch along the way.

Bring: food, water, hiking poles, gear for all weather, $2 for shuttle driver.

This will involve a vehicle shuttle so please indicate if you can drive when you RSVP.
