Grass Lake and Monument Mountain (B2)

Originally published at: Grass Lake and Monument Mountain (B2) – Alpine Club of Canada Vancouver Island Section

Departing from the Charters River Salmon Interpretive Centre parking lot at 9am (sharp), we hike gradually uphill to tranquil Grass Lake where swimming is possible for those who are interested. We then continue uphill to Monument Mountain and our lunch stop. Our return route begins with a long open ridge that descends more than 200 metres with spectacular views of the Sooke Hills, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains beyond. We then enter the forest and soon rejoin the trail back along Charters River.
