Meeting Place: Sea to Sea Regional Park, parking lot off Harbourview Road
Description: We will hike to Empress Mountain via Sooke Mountain Park Road, return via Grass Lake Trail, about 23 km distance and 1000 m elevation gain. If the weather is questionable, we will adjust the route accordingly, for example by skipping Empress Mountain, routing back around Shields Lake and Grass Lake.
Required Gear: Hiking boots, poles, warm layers, touque, gloves, raingear, provisions and the ten essentials.
Hazards: Variable terrain (rock, moss, roots), tripping, slips, falls, rain, mud, low temperatures.
