Originally published at: East Sooke Park Coast and Interior Trails Loop (October 12, C1-2) – Alpine Club of Canada Vancouver Island Section
This full day challenging loop hike along the East Sooke Park coast trail and interior trails (including Babbington Hill and Mount Maguire) is 25-26km in length with approximately 900m of total elevation gain. We will hike at a moderate pace with a few short breaks and a lunch stop. Expect to be out for 10+ hours.
Most of this hike is on established trails. Slippery sections are likely and hands may be needed in a few places.
Hiking poles are strongly recommended. Bring the 10 essentials, including headlamp, raingear, an extra layer, at least 2 litres of water/hot drinks, snacks and a lunch. Sorry, no dogs.
Carpooling possible from Helmcken Park and Ride (7:10am) or meet at the Aylard Farm parking lot at 7:50am for an 8am start. Heavy rain will postpone this hike to Monday.
