Description:

A trip to the top of the Comox Glacier via the Comox Glacier Trail. Access to the trailhead is via the Comox Lake Main logging road. First day (Friday Sept 9) will convoy to the trailhead, hike up to the Frog Ponds and set up camp. Sept 10 will be up to the Comox Glacier, possibly doing Black Cat Peak on the way back down. Sept 11 – pack up and head back down to the cars. Day 1, with full packs, is particularly strenuous as over half of the total elevation gain (about 1100m) occurs here.

Participants must be Alpine Club members.

Full distance: Approx 24 km all together
Elevation gain: Approx 1900m

Group size: 8 people.

Equipment: Boots, poles, fitness, the Ten Essentials. Camping gear is needed for the Frog Ponds. We may require ice axe, and helmet – more info on this as the date approaches. Water may be an issue – more info on this as the date approaches.
