Campbell Glacier - starting us off!

The Glaciers 2025 category celebrates everything cryospheric (having to do with ice, glaciers, snow – water in its frozen form). We are particularly keen to have photos and stories (short or long) about your time on a glacier, ice field, ice climb, ice sheet, etc. Photos and stories about your interactions with snow and ice are also welcome.

If your photo(s) and story could include some or all of the following that would be great:

  • Name of the area
  • Photo(s)
  • Date (if known - approximate is fine)
  • Description and/or longer story
  • Location - be it area, glacier name (if applicable), and/or lat/long of where the photo(s) come from.

Don’t worry if you don’t have the location, or don’t have a big description – just a photo is fine if that’s all you have!

Here’s a sample from the iconic Campbell Icefields.

On the Campbell Icefields with the ACC-VI
Sept 6 - 13, 2024

On Sept 10th a dozen of us started off for a day of exploration on the Campbell Icefield. The goal for some was the shoulder of Mt Barnard. For others it was a day simply exploring the expansive Campbell Icefield and Glacier.

The team setting off over the Campbell - no need to rope up, every crevasse was visible.

The shoulder of Mt Barnard - part of the team is heading up to the point on the right of the photo.

This sets the scene - this shot from Sept 7 on the Diamond Ridge above the Campbell Icefield - check out the formation of what looks to be a huge mill well (aka moulin) in the middle right of the ice.

Location: Campbell Icefield, Rocky Mtns north of Golden, BC.

Wow, what an incredible adventure! The photos from the Campbell Icefields are stunning, and the story really brings the experience back to life, what a great trip this was! I love how you captured the grandeur of the landscape. It’s always amazing to see how each glacier has its own personality and challenges. Thanks for sharing this and bringing back some really fond memories. I’m excited to hopefully contribute my own glacier stories to the Glaciers 2025 collection soon!
