I’ll bet you are all keen to know how the ACCVI Photo Competition and Show turned out – in a word, GREAT!

Without further ado let’s introduce the winners and honourable mentions in each category.

Putting it all together
But there are lots more photos to look at! This year’s show was full of many stunning images. There was lots of ooooing and awwwing in the room. Indeed, the voting was very, very close in most categories, especially Mountain Scenery.
Head over to accvi.ca/about/photos for a look at a gallery of the award winners and full presentation photo sets of all the images in the show – and remember, we always start those photo sets with a nod to the previous year’s winners.
Before letting you go, let me give a huge THANK YOU to all who sent in photos – it was so much fun to work with your images. And, I think I speak for everyone at the event, either in person or online, when I say how much we all enjoyed seeing what people got up to in 2024. One thing for sure – ACCVI folks know how to get around in the mountains!
And, I’m sure everyone will join me in thanking the truly amazing team of volunteers who bring their expertise, organizational skills, passion, and joie de vivre to everything they do. Let’s give a huge shout out and round of applause to Catrin Brown, Alcina De Oliveira, Gordon Kyle, Peggy Taylor, Liz Williams, Neil Ernst, and Roger Taylor. Well done indeed!
In the old days of photography, we used to say “f/8 and be there” where f/8 was a camera setting you had to know about. But with today’s modern cameras and phones I think we can update this to simply “be there”. And so, as well as wishing everyone the happiest of holidays, I’m wishing you all many opportunities in 2025 to “be there” in the hills, mountains, and high places of Vancouver Island and beyond.
Looking forward to next year’s show already.
