Moderate 13 km hike with approximately 500m of elevation gain up and around the Stocking / Heart Lake area west of Ladysmith. Meet at 9:00am at the gravel lot where Davis and Battle Drive meet (link to map below). There are a number of routes possible, but, in general we will hike along Holland Creek and come into the Heart/Stocking Lake area from the west. Swimming stops are possible at Heart Lake (maybe Stocking too). Views east and west – especially over Ladysmith Harbour.
Difficulty – some of this route is eroded, so expect boulders and loose rock. Some steep sections – both up and down. There are some low sections that may be a bit muddy.
