Let’s keep the ACCVI volunteer appreciation and holiday party **\*** going with a hike on **Sat, Dec 12!**

Join us on Sat, Dec 12 for a round of Mount Braden with stops at Castle Peak, the “true summit” of Braden, Plateau Peak, and points in between. This hike is about 11km (give or take) with around 550m of elevation gain. There are some steep bits – you might need to put a hand down now and then. We will try to avoid the more slippery sections, but as with all Sooke Hills hikes, they can sneak up on you!

The trip will go rain, sun or snow, but if the weather is really grim we may make some changes to the route. We’ll stop for elevenses and lunch.

Depending on how many trees are climbed, boulders scrambled, off-piste “detours” explored, etc., plan on being out for about 6(ish) hours. Wear good boots and carry the [10 essentials](https://www.northshorerescue.com/education/what-to-bring/).

**Date** : Sat, Dec 12, 2026
**Meeting Place** : [Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park – south trailhead parking lot](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Z4uWGHHnApGvozG98)
**Time** : 9:00am to ~ 4:00pm (please arrive about 10 mins before so we can all leave at 9:00)

No dogs please.

**Trip coordinators** : Dave Suttill and Mary Sanseverino. If you’d like to come, **contact Mary** at msanseve@gmail.com.

**\*What is this party and can I go?** Yes you can!! It is the [ACCVI Christmas Party and Volunteer Appreciation evening](https://accvi.ca/events/christmas-party-and-volunteer-appreciation-evening/) on Dec 11 at the Esquimalt Gorge Pavilion.
